So. this is *great*. If you're at all interested in how far artifice can be taken, let me tell you, Lee Daniels is so far out there you have to be a theoretical physicist *and* a Ken Russell scholar to even calculate his position. And yet, it doesn't sink beneath the weight of the strangeness of Daniels' choices: it's a hugely emotional epic about really important subject matter, told in a radically subjective style by a true master filmmaker. I want to watch this again a few more times and try to put more expansive thoughts down, but whoa man. I fucking loved this.
