Darren Wood’s review:
Being South African and living through the end bit of apartheid this film was particularly interesting to me. The comparisons to apartheid aren't subtle, but I don't really think that was the goal. Neill Blomkamp was exploring what he knows and loves: his country and sci-fi films.
I'm trying to think of other South African films that have made it this big... I can't.
I think a rewatch is in order — then perhaps I'll be able to write a more accurate and detailed review. Needless to say this was a fucking great film!
