    Overall I really enjoyed Rogue One. The start seemed a bit messy (and at times it felt like a fan film) but it soon came together.

    Visually stunning, and great acting by Tom Hardy, although the narrative and scriptwriting were woefully lacking.

    It just didn't work for me in the same way that the 'The Krays' did.

    OK so this isn't the best nazi-horror film ever made but it does have some very good performances, notably from Johnny Meres as the 'breather'.

    Probably the scariest thing about this movie though was that a couple of days after watching it I saw Jonny Meres walking through my office - now THAT scared the **** out of me. (I did make a point of talking to him though and he's a thoroughly decent chap)

    This was a real surprise. I've always liked Jason Statham but this was a real departure from his usual action shenanigans in the likes of The Transporter (letterboxd.com/film/the-transporter/), Crank (letterboxd.com/film/crank/) & Safe (letterboxd.com/film/safe-2012-3/).

    That's not to say that there was a fairly decent amount of action in this film but in terms of real acting ability Statham certainly upped his game with this one, even more so than The Mechanic (letterboxd.com/film/the-mechanic-2011/) which I still think is his best action movie to…
