List by Dave Jay
Underrated: '70s & '80s Horror
A selection of horrors and chillers that don't always get their due - sure, many on this list have a cult following (let's face it, what film doesn't nowadays?), but all deserve to be either better known or better thought of, in my humble opinion.
Feel free to agree, disagree or make your own suggestions (this is far from an exhaustive or definitive list).

I don't know. It rare for me to run into anyone who has seen it, my job is pretty much to talk to people about movies. I agree, more people probably know about it now, but I wouldn't say it ubiquitous. What about Night Warning (aka Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker)
I've been working my way through the films I hadn't seen before the last few nights, and am now sitting at 64% watched.
Thanks for posting this list Dave, and thanks to anyone who contributed a title I had not seen.
Hey bizarre eye - only just seen your message! 64% is impressive! Any films stand out for you in particular?
Now, this is quite a list!
Thanks, Travis!
@Dave - I'm now at 66%! Out of the one's I hadn't seen, I enjoyed Unwin, Wittering and Zigo, Homebodies. and Fade to Black the most.
There are some really great film on here, though: Girly, Private Parts, Messiah of Evil, The Perfume of the Lady in Black, Lemora, Demon Seed, Who Can Kill a Child?, Magic...
Great stuff, Bizarre eye! Not sure what you have or haven't seen overall, but if I were to recommend ten films from this list apart from those you already mentioned, they would have to be:
SEE NO EVIL
IMAGES
DERANGED
THE HOUSE OF THE LAUGHING WINDOWS
THE MAFU CAGE
THE SENDER
EYES OF FIRE
NEXT OF KIN
ANGUISH
RETRIBUTION
Great list, esp pleased to see the rarely-seen Unmann, Wittering & Zigo here, I'd like to think that bfi flipside may release that at some point, I'd also add the vastly underrated, but not forgotten by those who've seen it, PARENTS (1989).
Thanks, reeceindie! Love PARENTS... will add it now.
This list is like crack for me and my Watchlist - thanks everyone! Great stuff in here, and lots I need to get to viewin'.
