The Pre-Apocalypse
I love pre-apocalyptic movies. If I had to think about it it may be my favorite sub-genre of film. I think it gets to the core of the inevitability of death and the paradoxical futility and importance of life. Even the worst film of this kind get me thinking long after they finish, so I wanted to collect a bunch of titles in the one place.
Perhaps some restrictions we can use to define the pre-apocalypse. One or more characters believe the world will end and that there will be 'nothing' after the apocalypse (i.e. no Mad Max, as that takes place in the post-apocalypse).
Please suggest more that I haven't added/seen because I'd love to check them out.
Donnie Darko?
I saw Donnie Darko a while ago, so I'm hazy on many parts of it. Could you explain why it should go on the list?
Ah Hem:
"28 days... 6 hours... 42 minutes... 12 seconds. That... is when the world... will end. "
Haha, oh yes, of course. That's perfect.
I now actually have a very vivid memory of watching this movie for the first time when I was a young teen alone in the dark and that line being absolutely chilling.
