  • Just spotted your list, interesting line-up and you're right we do share similar tastes. There are a lot on your list that were so close to sneaking into mine.
And it is order, right? Interesting that you prefer Playtime to Vacances or Mon Oncle.

  • Yes, it is in order. The first 20 - 30 are ordered but after that it became a little arbitrary. Mon Oncle is one that I just couldn't fit on the list, though I do really like it. I feel it drags in parts more than both Playtime and Vacances. I absolutely love Playtime (obviously) and this it's Tati's masterpiece. Although Vacances is wonderful and really fun, I don't think it's as biting or effective as Playtime. The party sequence is incredible and I love spending time in this almost alien (and yet very familiar) world. I think Tati's commentary has never been sharper than in this film, and also for me it just has the best gags. The door man with the invisible door, the waiter who's uniform is used for scraps, the Napoleon service window thing, the drunk guy following the lighted arrow into the party etc etc.

  • TRASH HUMPERS in at #86.

  • This is a great list! I also like that you are changing it yearly. I have decided that when my Letterboxd film count reaches 1000 I will make a list like this of my own and then update it every 500 films or so.

Great list and a great bunch of them would likely make my list, and a couple would probably even reach my Top 10

  • Thanks! The plan was to do a new top 100 each year and see how my tastes change as I see more movies. I guess I'll have to shell out the membership cost to gain access to lists longer than 20 titles.
Comment here with a link once you've made your list so I don't miss it!

  • Love the diversity in this list, we have very similar taste.

  • Have you seen Ex Drummer?

  • Thanks man! The DVD cover of Ex Drummer has haunted me ever since I first saw it, but I've never actually seen the movie. Worth checking out, I take it?

  • It goes beyond "worth it" and reaches essential status. You'll definitely like it.

  • Keen as mustard, will need to pick that one up soon.
