David Zou’s review:
One of the biggest tearjerkers in the collection,I just did not expect it to be so moving!!Oscar gave Leo Mccarey the award for the wrong film, and people just didn't like to go to cinema to see a film about old people, thanks to Criterion to bring it back.We NEED it in our times. Many people compared it to Ozu's Tokyo Story and say it's better than that one,as a Oriental audience and Ozu fan,I will not agree with that!!
I saw this recently too, it's good but Tokyo Story is better.
I can't agree more, after all,Ozu is THE "expert" telling this kind of stories.
