A major leap forward from director/writer/actor Shane Carruth's debut PRIMER. This is film as aggressive mood enhancer. Reminded me at times of early David Cronenberg, though really it felt unique and unlike anything too specific. I kept waiting for it to careen into the ditch in its final act, but it maintains its hypnotic spell all the way to its perfect, unsettling yet hopeful ending.
