7 Faces of Dr. Lao 1964
I had no idea what this was about before seeing it. I decided to watch it based on the poster alone. I thought it might have been a horror movie but I could not have been more wrong!
Turns out it's very much like a less dark, and more whimsical, version of Something Wicked This Way Comes set in the Old West. Like a lot of people I only know Tony Randall from the Odd Couple, this movie gave me…

Alien: Resurrection 1997
So far the third best in the series, which isn't saying much coming after Alien 3. I really like clone Ripley but didn't really care for the new hybrid Alien. It just gets too weird toward the end with Ripley-mom and the Aliens.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010
I've been a Freddy fan for a long time, even costumed as him for a few years at a haunted house. This movie bored me. I applaud the fact that they wanted to make him a little more monstrous but most of the time, the makeup looks like a bad animatronic mask.
The voice sounds like it was added in post, it has no feel of being in the scene.
They retread so many things from the originals it all feels "been there, done that." If you're going to reboot/re-imagine something, bring some originality to it, the fans will appreciate it more. -
Arthur Christmas 2011
I probably would have enjoyed this more if "Prep and Landing" hadn't done the some of the same things already. Still, it's a cute Christmas movie.

Attack of the 50ft Cheerleader 2012
All you need to know about this movie is the climactic battle pits two 50 ft cheerleaders against each other...topless.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 2012
DC continues to top Marvel with its direct to DVD releases. Although I haven't seen anything from Marvel lately. I haven't read the story on which this is based, but from the summaries I've read it sounds pretty faithful. What I found interesting is that this was released months before Watchmen and it feels similar with an aging hero facing his mortality and the limits that brings with it.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 2013
The only problem I have with this is Joker's voice. Regardless of the fact that most of us are used to Hamill's Joker, Michael Emerson (as much as I love him elsewhere) is not the right person for the role. Otherwise, it's an outstanding continuation of the story. It's always a treat to see Bats and Supes face off.

Battle Beyond the Stars 1980
This was pretty middle of the road ok for me. The main reason I kept watching is because it so wonderfully reminded me of the original Battlestar Galactica, from which they even lift plenty of sound effects.
It's just as good as anything that was on TV around this time. -
Beastmaster 2: Through the Portal of Time 1991
What in the holy heck happened to this franchise after the first movie? Singer is rockin a wig that would do any 80s glam metal band proud, the animals have reduced roles and I've seen better fight choreography on Hercules/Xena.
-
Beastmaster: The Eye of Braxus 1996
Getting a little bit back to what made the original great...but not quite. I'm not sure if it's the way it was filmed or the budget but it just doesn't feel as real as the first one. It's almost Hercules/Xena in a lot of ways. Braxus, the demon "man-in-suit", looks like he wandered in from the set of the Dinosaurs TV show.

Best Worst Movie 2009
I only just watched Troll 2 for the first time so that I could see this. It's a great look at the fans and their love for one of the worst movies of all time. Like any documentary of this kind, there are a few spots where you can't help but feel sorry for some of the people involved in making the movie but overall it celebrates the actors and fans that love the movie.
