My Neighbor Totoro 1993
I don't often use words like magical, endearing and delightful when talking about movies because I'm usually watching a horror or sci-fi flick but Totoro is definitely all those things.
This was my first venture into Miyazaki films and I can't wait to check out more. The English dub felt it was just as good as the original voice recordings. The actors are there to act and not just provide something to listen to.

Ray Harryhausen: Special Effects Titan 2012
An amazing look back at Harryhausen's work with commentary by the likes of Speilberg, Cameron, Landis, Lasseter as well as Phil Tippet and Dennis Murren.

Spine Tingler! The William Castle Story 2007
If you're a fan of B-movies and don't know the name William Castle, you should correct that immediately! This man was the PT Barnum of B-movies. This doc is a real love letter to him and his movies. There are very few people in show biz that I wish I had a chance to meet and Castle is probably second only to Vincent Price for me. It was a lot of fun finding out more about the man behind some of my favorite films.

More Brains! A Return to the Living Dead 2011
A must see for fans of Return of the Living Dead! Great interviews with cast & crew about making the movie.
-
Wreck-It Ralph 2012
Great movie! Even if you're not an arcade kid from the 80s, you'll probably like it but you may miss a joke here or there. Can't wait to get this on BluRay so I can freeze frame it to check out all the background characters.

Frankenweenie 2012
I always enjoy Tim Burton animations but this was so much more than I was expecting! There are plenty of nods to classic monsters throughout the movie and I absolutely love it for that.

Raiders of the Lost Ark 1981
IMAX - print didn't look as good as I was hoping overall but it was still great to see it on the big screen again.

Let the Right One In 2008
I'd heard nothing but rave reviews for this so it was finally time to watch it. I was completely blown away. Such a refreshing take on vampires. Likely one of the best films I'll see this year.

Oz: The Great and Powerful 2013
If you're planning on seeing this and are on the fence about spending the extra for 3D and/or IMAX, do it. The 3D really makes the movie pop and there's a few sequences that are like being on an amusement park ride.
If you love the 1939 MGM Wizard of Oz, there's no reason you wouldn't enjoy this.

7 Faces of Dr. Lao 1964
I had no idea what this was about before seeing it. I decided to watch it based on the poster alone. I thought it might have been a horror movie but I could not have been more wrong!
Turns out it's very much like a less dark, and more whimsical, version of Something Wicked This Way Comes set in the Old West. Like a lot of people I only know Tony Randall from the Odd Couple, this movie gave me…

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 2013
The only problem I have with this is Joker's voice. Regardless of the fact that most of us are used to Hamill's Joker, Michael Emerson (as much as I love him elsewhere) is not the right person for the role. Otherwise, it's an outstanding continuation of the story. It's always a treat to see Bats and Supes face off.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 2012
DC continues to top Marvel with its direct to DVD releases. Although I haven't seen anything from Marvel lately. I haven't read the story on which this is based, but from the summaries I've read it sounds pretty faithful. What I found interesting is that this was released months before Watchmen and it feels similar with an aging hero facing his mortality and the limits that brings with it.
