Ian Woolstencroft’s review:
That this film received zero Oscar nominations kind of makes a mockery of the awards. Eastwood gives one of his finest performances in a film that will make you laugh and cry. Film making of the highest calibre from a man who often receives praise for his direction but gets far to little credit as an actor.
I agree I couldn't believe it didn't get nominated for anything. Eastwood's performance was hilarious and heartbreaking at the same time. Good stuff!
It's particularly odd given how the Academy love to give awards to older actors. Maybe he'll get another shot with Trouble with the Curve.
You're right and I felt the same way about another film of his Changeling which I thought was excellent, but got overlooked by critics and The Academy.
