  • A Reason to Live, a Reason to Die 1974

    ★★ Watched 09 Dec, 2012

Unexceptional Spaghetti Western that makes little use of it's Hollywood stars.

  • The Wild Bunch 1969

    ★★★★★ Rewatched 02 Dec, 2012

Sometimes everything comes together at just the right time and something truly amazing is created. Every time I watch The Wild Bunch I'm reminded of why I fell in love with movies in the first place.

  • The Eschatrilogy

    ★½ Watched 17 Nov, 2012

Sometimes films are made with so little money that just getting them completed is an accomplishment. The Eschatrilogy is just such a film. Sadly there is little else to commend it. Its main failing is trying to tell too big a story. When you have little cash it's best to think small and had the makers of The Eschatrilogy focused on one story instead of trying to tell three interconnected ones they would have produced a stronger film.

  • Before Dawn 2012

    ★★★★ Watched 17 Nov, 2012 2

An intelligent zombie movie isn't something you come across very often but Dominic Brunt's directorial debut is just that. It's budgetary limitations are obvious but by focusing on the characters more than the gore the film turns any monetary shortcomings into emotional strengths with characters we can actually care about, something all too rare in modern horror. Hopefully someone with give Brunt another go behind the camera soon.

  • Muralim

    ★★ Watched 17 Nov, 2012

Israeli horror comedy that fails to go far enough in either direction to be more than mildly diverting.

  • Zombie 1980

    ★★★ Rewatched 17 Nov, 2012

One of Fulci's more accomplished films. It makes little sense but features some striking images (the zombie versus shark scene is justifiably famous) and plenty of gore.

  • Bad News Bears 2005

    ★★ Watched 10 Nov, 2012

A pointless remake that shows Billy Bob Thornton is no Walter Matthau.

  • Space Cowboys 2000

    ★★★ Rewatched 08 Nov, 2012

Clint Eastwood has made some great films in his time but he's made a few damn silly ones too. Space Cowboys falls in the latter category but it's got such an excellent cast it can't help being entertaining regardless.

  • Trekkies 1997

    ★★½ Watched 05 Nov, 2012

The tagline of From Dusk Till Dawn was "How far can too far go?". It would have been even more apt for this documentary.

  • Sky High 2005

    ★★★ Watched 04 Nov, 2012

An amusing spin on the superhero genre with a great cast.

  • RocketMan 1997

    ½ Watched 04 Nov, 2012

Infantile comedy staring the desperately unfunny Harland Williams. The cinematic equivalent of an emema.

  • Mighty Joe Young 1998

    ★★★ Watched 04 Nov, 2012

Entertaining remake with good effects and a solid cast.
