I've never read the books, but still somewhat enjoyed this mix of Running Man/Truman Show/Battle Royale. I knew going in it would at least well made since it's from Director Gary Ross ("Pleasantville," "Seabiscuit").
I can say I enjoyed it and got somewhat wrapped up into it, even though it is very predictable (I could tell you the ending after the first half hour). But it's still entertaining, and has some strong performances including Woody Harrelson and an unrecognizable Elizabeth Banks. Do I believe this film deserves all the acclaim, hype, and box office rewards it has been getting? No. It's not a great film. But it's fun and well made and something somewhat different. hey, if I have to choose between this and Twilight, I'll take this hands down.
