Synecdoche, New York 2008

This is a perfect film.

Lost in Translation 2003
Everything about this film is done so well. Great acting, a great screenplay - nothing ever felt forced no matter how obvious it was. Great cinematography, great shots of Scarlett in her underwear.
This film has everything.
Sweet, subtle and true right down to it's core - a really great film.

Zero Dark Thirty 2012
I didn't care much for The Hurt Locker. But this...this is a great film.
This is a sprawling epic of a film. At over two and a half hours long, it covers over ten years in it's timeline. The tone of the film changes dramatically from start to finish. The ensemble cast is fantastic - Mark Strong, Jennifer Ehle, Kyle Chandler, Joel Edgerton. Special Mentions to Jason Clarke and Jessica Chastain whose performances are the best of the years I've…

The Master 2012
The Master is a really pretty film. Pretty and thought-provoking.
Stunning cinematography and astonishing performances by all three of the main actors. Joaquin Phoenix changes everything about himself and fully absorbs into the role, his facial structure, the way he talks and the way he carries himself is great. Hoffman is just fantastic and Amy Adams is absolutely phenomenal - her tight jaw and calculating stare was so awe-inspiring. Her level of power she holds over the Master is fantastic…

Django Unchained 2012
Hey, Little Troublemakers.
When I heard about this film, it had my curiosity - it now has my attention. But it seems our mutual friend, Tarantino, has a flair for the dramatic because...
Damn, I ripped my bag. All right, for the rest of the review we are going to go without bags on our heads. But next time, we will do the bags properly.
Anyway...this film is DAWESOME (The D is silent, hill-billy's). I mean, what's not to like?…

Moonrise Kingdom 2012
Sweet, hilarious and quirky.
There is nothing quite like a good Wes Anderson film - There is a certain way that the characters talk in the Moonrise Kingdom universe (Anderson universe as a whole). I thought all the actors nailed it.
My favourite scene is the one where the two kids are on the beach - I won't go any further to avoid spoilers. But that scene is just so sweet and so innocent.
A truly fantastic film.
