Can I just wish that Christoph Waltz continues to do movies with Tarantino for a long time?!?
This movie was a brilliant homage to westerns with the music and the quick closeups and the shoot-em-outs. It was nice to see Waltz in a role as a bounty hunter who could kill a man dead without thinking in order to collect a prize but so dismayed by the cruelty of slavery that he nearly blows his cover when incognito.
Jamie Foxx plays alongside him very well, and you couldn't help but root for Django to go on his epic quest to rescue his Brunhilda.
Pretty fucking great to be honest and it had me on edge the whole time, although I did guess at a few things that would happen (albeit right before, hahaha!) Also I don't think you need to see the other Alien films to enjoy it and follow along, obvs. cos it's a prequel. I haven't seen the Alien films and I didn't get lost and loved it so yep.
I would have given this movie 1 1/2 stars but the ending was good enough to bump it up to a two. I don't know...I just found it somewhat boring. I had no empathy or feelings for the girl or anything at all--I cared for Poe because, you know, I like the author. He came off as a total prick in the movie and pompous and arrogant and largely unlikeable and...ugh.
I don't know. Two stars for the ending! Also the inspector (inspector fields) reminded me of heath ledger. I don't know why. Hmmm.
