    The Abyss 1989

    ★★★★ Rewatched 21 Jan, 2015

Still stands as possibly my favourite James Cameron film. Engrossing and tense, gets a skittle to full of itself, but still really enjoy anytime I watch it.

  • Big Hero 6

    Big Hero 6 2014

    ★★★½ Watched 21 Jan, 2015

Was actually very surprised at how much I enjoyed this. It gets a bit baggy towards the end, but overall it's got plenty of laughs and a lot of heart.

  • Torment

    Torment 2013

    ★★ Watched 19 Jan, 2015

Katherine Isabelle makes it vaguely watchable, but as always it's characters dumbness greats significantly. Also the kid in it looks about 45.

Stylish as fuck and my god Reeves does action well, his ability to glide in complex action sequences is a joy. Loved this film!

  • Stroszek

    Stroszek 1977

    ★★★½ Rewatched 18 Jan, 2015

A throughly bizarre film that's flittering nature makes it fantastically watchable. As ever Herzog is always interesting and for the most fun.

  • American Sniper

    American Sniper 2014

    ★★★ Watched 18 Jan, 2015

I didn't hate American Sniper, I just found that it seemed to get camp fused about what it's actually trying to say. Instead of it being a biopic of a well known solider, it often explores deeper territories, but dies this in a muddled way. Personally think that a more politically balanced director than Eastwood might have gotten a more together film. I did think Cooper was very good and I find the hate campaign against it a little too much.

  • Hell Baby

    Hell Baby 2013

    ★★★ Watched 17 Jan, 2015

Watched late on Saturday night with a couple of beers and you know what I enjoyed it a fair amount. It's slight, but provided what I needed.

  • Pride and Glory

    Pride and Glory 2008

    ★★★½ Rewatched 16 Jan, 2015

Not watched this since the day the dvd came out and I remember having some issues with it. Those issues remain. There are great performances and some great setup, plus I'm a sucker for neighbourhood stories, but there are just some instances where the film just doesn't land right. Still enjoyed my rewatch for the most part.

A must for all Ricky Jay and General Magic fans.

  • Inherent Vice

    Inherent Vice 2014

    ★★★★★ Watched 14 Jan, 2015

PTA back in playful form. A twisting trip through a befuddled world with a cast of lovely characters. Needs a rewatch to fully wrap my head around, all I know now is I loved every second and Josh Brolin shouting "MOTTO PANUKEIKU" is an utter joy.

  • Aguirre: The Wrath of God

Aguirre: The Wrath of God 1972

    ★★★★★ Rewatched 13 Jan, 2015

Klaus Kinski's crazy stare and Werner Herzog's twisted mind create a dream of a movie that remains as fresh and compelling now as it did 42 years ago. A true masterpiece.
