  • Gone Girl 2014

    ★★★★★ Rewatched 04 Jan, 2015

A second watch where I picked up so much more than I noticed first time around (as often happens with Fincher). Once you accept that this is Amy's story and not Nick's everything falls into place so much better.

  • Iron Man 3 2013

    ★★★½ Watched 29 Aug, 2013

Finally got round to this. Been so pumped for this film, not because it's a new Iron Man film, because it's a new Shane Black film.

It's certainly my favourite Avengers film to date, but like all the others it never really wowed me. I found it repeated itself a lot and was often reaching a bit far with it's story.

  • Birdman 2014

    ★★★★ Watched 03 Jan, 2015

A throughly endearing film, that when it works is simply magnificent and even when it doesn't it's still very very good.

  • Whiplash 2014

    ★★★★★ Watched 07 Jan, 2015

As intense and breaktaking a film I've seen in a long long time. Simmons will get all the plaudits (and he's remakable) but let's not forget how captivating and pulsating Miles Teller is.

  • Goodfellas 1990

    ★★★★★ Rewatched 10 Jan, 2015

Goodfellas remains one of those films where it's just accepted that it's great, but it's every so often it should be watched just to appreciate how great it actually is. For me this is a film that has an enormous amount of praise, yet still remains in a bizarre way underrated.

  • Die Hard 1988

    ★★★★ Watched 02 Dec, 2011 3

This has to be one of the ultimate none Christmas, Christmas movies.

  • Enemy 2013

    ★★★ Watched 03 Jan, 2015

Interesting, intriguing and suberbly played. Shits the bed at the very end unfortunately!

  • Now You See Me 2013

    ★★★½ Rewatched 31 Aug, 2013

Still very enjoyable on a second watch. It's flawed but like the magic it depicts you only start seeing it's tricks after it plays out.

  • Foxcatcher 2014

    ★★★½ Watched 01 Jan, 2015

One of the most hyped films at the moment. For me it only works at points, it's very serious and there is a constant air of dread all the way through, however if you already know the story then that dread doesn't carry as well.

Also the story never delves a deep as it possibly could, all feels like we have seen the minimum of what we needed.

  • Inherent Vice 2014

    ★★ Watched 14 Jan, 2015

PTA back in playful form. A twisting trip through a befuddled world with a cast of lovely characters. Needs a rewatch to fully wrap my head around, all I know now is I loved every second and Josh Brolin shouting "MOTTO PANUKEIKU" is an utter joy.

  • Eyes Wide Shut 1999

    ★★★★ Added

Gets better every time I watch it. Although Kidman manages to be both fantastic and terrible in equal measures.
