The story is a mess that makes absolutely no sense. Let me get this straight: the main protagonist likes the hot campus girl. However she is with the (obligatory) top dog. MMA up in this, the girl sets him up to get the living jesus beat out of him and the protagonist realize he has to train in order to beat this douche and get the girl(who 5 minutes ago humiliated him by setting the fight with his anderson silva boyfriend).

So he trains and a montage with the always awesome Djimon Hounsou later, he gets a title shot, gets shat on again beats the guy outside the tournament.

Did I mention between this sequences his idiot sidekick gets beaten to a coma?

So the "happy ending" is basically him getting the girl (who's not really into him to begin with and like I said earlier, FUCKIN' HUMILIATED HIM), proving nothing by winning outside the tournament, and getting his sidekick thrashed.
