This movie seems to garner a lot of hate, and while some of it is deserved, it's an all around fun movie to watch. Justin Long's entire character seemed pointless after the first fifteen minutes or so. I definitely loved Mary Elizabeth Winstead as his daughter. This was the first movie where I really took notice of her and I really would have liked to see more of her character being a bad-ass than Long getting more screen time. I liked Timothy Olyphant and Maggie Q as the villains. My final gripe with this movie was that Bruce Willis wasn't playing an aged John McClane, he was playing Bruce Willis. It was almost a caricature of McClane.
But even with all that was wrong with it, it was an enjoyable action flick. That's how I suggest viewing it. It's a mediocre, or even shitty Die Hard movie, but it's an excellent Bruce Willis action movie.
