Elizabeth Lovatt’s review:
I know less than nothing about baseball, to me it's that weird version of rounders that people over the pond play while wearing stripy clothes and a hat. But somehow this film kept me engaged and entertained over it's two hour play time. By taking the focus off the players and the game itself, and onto the management and statistics behind it, you're left with a film that questions the length that stats can define a person and how game theory can predict the outcome of a season. It's sounds dry and boring but instead the film becomes a study on the strength of a person's faith in their theory and the length they will go to to see it through to its conclusion. Of course all that sounds ridiculous and pretentious, when all is said and done it's still just a glorified game of rounders, isn't it?
While I don't know what rounders is, I am glad that you liked this!
Haha, it's basically baseball but girls play it without the hats or the big gloves. I'm actually rather jealous of the big gloves...
