The Avengers 2012
Up until now, I never truly understood all the fuss about Joss Whedon. I never related to Buffy, never got into Firefly or Dollhouse, and while I enjoyed Serenity I didn't worship it like some. But at long last, Whedon has delivered a piece of work that blew me away, one I truly believe will swiftly enter the pantheon of classic action-adventure movies. The Avengers is not only far and away the best of Marvel's (mostly impressive) movie staple, it's…

The Avengers 2012
I feel like I could watch this two times a day for a week, every single day and still not get bored of it! I loved it! Haven't laughed so much in the cinema... like... ever.

Moulin Rouge! 2001
I should hate this movie. It's over the top, crazily edited and is all about style over substance. But instead, I friggin LOVE this movie! I don't know why, but i just can't get enough of it. The music is beautifully done, the acting is good, the romance (while very fast-moving) is heartbreaking and it's just a hell of a good time. Come what may, I will love this movie 'till my dying days!

Excalibur 1981
Holy shit! Its Captain Picard! This is how the Arthur story should be told. Buckets of blood, big fancy pants sword in a stone a dash of incest (blugh) cool horse ride through about a gajillion trees in blossom and a last battle that could kick helms deep. Oh and a few scenes were your eyes eat your face because what they are seeing is so stunning it could be hung in an art gallery. When I die I want to be taken out to sea surrounded by hippy nuns as we drift off into the friggin sun!

The Box 2009
The Director of Donnie Darko, Richard Kelly, releases his third movie called The Box and after the critically maligned Southland Tales, it is a return to form, kind of!!!!!
Based on the Richard Matheson short story 'Button, Button' written in 1970 which was also adapted into a Twilight Zone episode of the same name. The story and the movie have a great hook to get you into the film but by the end it loses a lot of its intrigue…

Zombieland 2009
The Noughties have been the decade of the zombie movies, usually there is only one good gore fest every 10 years with Night of the Living Dead in the 60's, Dawn of the Dead in the 70's, Day of the Dead in the 80's and Braindead in the 90's. This decade though, there have been at least three good zombie movies, Shaun of the Dead, the Dawn of the Dead remake and now Zombieland can be added to that list.…
