I may be crazy, but I think Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson cribbed a scene from this for ROYAL TENENBAUMS, in the same way they filched from HEAT for RUSHMORE. It's a scene between Andy Garcia and an ER doctor, after another cop's been shot; almost identical dialogue occurs between Luke Wilson and Seymour Cassel after Royal's just been re-installed in the Tenenbaum family home.
