The Punisher: Dirty Laundry 2012 ★★★★★

Hurrah! This marks the fist time that I've added a movie to this website through themoviedb.org and it couldn't be for a better cause!

Whilst the form filling out was a complete ball ache, my arduous administrative task must have been nothing compared to the big cojones that Tom Jane must have for making this internet movie.

Get this. No license from Marvel, no legal endorsement. Does this movie mark the first time that a genuine Hollywood movie star has gone out and filmed their own fan film? I think so!

Tom Jane reprises his role as The Punisher from his initial appearance in the John Travolta starring 2004 original. What this short story does through its 10 minute run-time is something amazing, it takes what fans love about the character, it removes all of the restraints that major movie studios put in place to make a film "successful" and the result is this; a pulse pounding seat of your pants movie which is easily the best on screen representation of the comic book character Frank Castle/The Punisher you could wish to see.

Featuring pretty much 6 minutes of moody shots and an almost frustrating lack of action, this film builds and builds until its explosive conclusion. The payoff is breathtaking. The Punisher really does, well, punish. It's also nice to see another Hollywood heavyweight lend their hand in a role, Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Alien Resurrection) also features in a cameo as a Store Owner, offering pearly wisdom and a unique, typically Punisher-esque choice of weapon.

In the week that comic-con dominated the headlines and The Dark Knight Rises blew up the box office, it was this un-announced one-off(?) fan film from Tom Jane which kicked the most ass.

Spread the word. All Punisher fans and Marvel Comic Book movie fans should get behind this graphic, kick ass version of the recognisable character. If this is a bid to get The Punisher back on the big screen, surely someone from Marvel has to sit up and take notice?
