A deeply contemplative realist monster movie, that somehow manages to make the monsters seem more at one with nature than humans. Carefully crafted, atmospheric, and yet far more political than your average b-movie. Monsters is visually reminiscent of Peter Weir.

Does nothing to alleviate my fear of the octopi taking over though.
