Jandy Hardesty’s review published on Letterboxd:
I've been meaning to rewatch this landmark screwball comedy for years, but kept putting it off because I found it rather shrill the first time through and I wasn't sure it would improve on rewatch. I'm happy to say it did. Both Barrymore and Lombard are far into the depths of histrionic in terms of performance style, but it's so very intentional and part of their over-the-top theatrical personas that it's utterly appropriate. Barrymore is an absolute scream, and Lombard, in her first real comedic part, keeps up with him beautifully and proves why she's one of classic cinema's finest comediennes.
