  • the loved ones is very good, loved that film. up in the air good too, Dogtooth that's a film that will out lives us all!

  • Moon, Thirst, and Antichrist are all excellent. I wasn't a fan of Watchmen or House of the Devil.

Out of the ones you haven't seen, I'd recommend The Box (although the majority of people seemed to hate this one!), Dogtooth, and The Loved Ones. I didn't care for I Sell the Dead.

District 9, Enter the Void, Laid to Rest, and The Life and Death of a Porno Gang are also essential films from this year; Amer and Rec 2, less so, but still decent, in my opinion.

  • Enter the void is an existential but at least for me a 2010 release, REC2 is like Aliens a bad-ass film, the box is a good concept film but Kelly didn't know how to end the film, so the last part of the fall apart for me...

  • I was really looking forward to The Box but never saw it when it was first released and sorta forgot about it. Still interested in seeing it, so hopefully I'll walk away liking it. Dogtooth looks like it's right up my alley, and it's on Netflix Instant so I'll be watching it very soon. And the Loved Ones I've heard very little about other than rave reviews, so I'm very excited to see it. Same with Up In the Air.

As for Enter the Void, I honestly can't say I like it. It was a beautiful looking film that never entirely came together or went anywhere for me, and lost me pretty early on. Noé is 0 for 2 with me now, as I also didn't like Irréversible. Also felt the same exact way with Amer. An admittedly beautiful film that could never grab my interest past the visuals.

I've seen District 9 and liked it, but didn't find it to be memorable. Have never even heard of ...Porno Gang, but I'll seek that and Laid to Rest out. I think the latter may be on Instant viewing as well.

  • interesting thought on Noe's films, but not surprising not many many people cup of tea definitely.
