Ferre Rodriguez’s review:
By any means this is the best film ive seen, but somehow, since the moment i saw it, this became my favorite film. It's viciously violent and laser beam focused and it takes its time to develop both characters and story, and specially in a film of this genre, of this time and a remake, thats a miracle.
Aja knows very well what he's doing, and he does his best film, giving us a beautifully blend between Peckinpah and Carpenter, a perfectly paced, nightmarish atmospheric hellish ride full with a flawless third act and a great main character.
Everything, from the "electronic western" score by Tomandandy to the beautiful cinematography from Maxime Alexandre makes the film not only one of the best remakes of the history, but also one the best horror films out there.
Im sure in a few years this will be at the same level of consideration of films like Cronenberg's The Fly or Carpenter's The Thing.
