Reviews of 2001: A Space Odyssey 1968

Haunting and beautiful, though not without excess. Seeing this in a theater in 1968 would have been something else.

It is a complex movie, but with a lot of criticism to the future of technology what is really interesting. Besides the special effects and the details are great for that time. This movie is too long and the fact of spending so much time in the same thing, sometimes without any dialog or sound, make some scenes a little "boring". But it was the objective, to exemplify "how things work on space"... anyway, I liked it.

WHAT.
Seriously. It's been four months since I finally getting around to seeing this movie and I still have no idea what happened.
Actually I have several ideas. Maybe too many ideas. And many more questions.
Guess this means I'll have to see this again. And again. And again.

A marvelous wonder of cinema. It goes so far beyond its sci-fi genre that such a label does the film injustice. Even though I have yet to see many of his films, but for the ones I have I find that Kubrick makes great films but they fail to live up to their legacy. Not the case with this film.

Best Production Design ever.

Truly symbolic and an impactful movie. Groundbreaking for it's time and still holds up to be one of the best science fiction films of all time.
This is something where you really have to sit down and watch it attentively. The symbolism, themes, camera-work; amazing. Truly deserving of the critical praise.
It's a movie that really makes you think, and if you haven't seen it yet, you should really consider it.

Worst birthday present ever.
For Frank, that is.Technically last night was the first time I'd ever seen 2001 in its entirety. I watched it on GLORIOUS BLU-RAY on a rather large TV screen and this was an intensely rewarding experience. I don't have much else to say about that except that I plan on listening to the included commentary by Dullea and Lockwood sometime soon.
Hard to rate because I wanted so badly to get out of the tedious…

I just had the amazing experience of watching this film at the Birmingham Symphony Hall with the full Philharmonia Orchestra and Choir. Absolutely amazing! This is Science Fiction at its very best. Kubrick became one of my favourite Directors after I watched The Shining, and every subsequent viewing of his films reinforces this. His films are successful as they provoke thought and participation. 2001 is beautiful to watch and for a film made in 1968 it has some incredible effects…

I had no idea what was going on and this film is too slow for me. I don't know why everyone loves this film... Maybe it's just me, but I didn't like it that much.
I was counting down the minutes till the film would end.

When the first notes of 2001's iconic theme begin, you know you're in for something special. Of course, it's impossible to approach 2001 with no expectations. Having heard and read about the film for years, when I finally sat down to catch up with it for the first time, I was equally ready to witness one of film's greatest achievements, as well as to be bored out of my mind. And even though 2001 is quite slow at times, it's…

L'expression la plus pure et puissante de la science-fiction au cinéma.
