Reviews of (500) Days of Summer 2009

A movie so engulfed in the thought of being Hipster. I could not concentrate on this movie due to the overwhelming "in your face" attitude it had for me. In general, just not my cup of tea. The ending redeemed the slow beginning in a way for me, but I have to give it 2 and a half stars.

I was worried that the impact the story has on you first time round would be lost in a rematch, but with its inventively structured narrative, cutting from days in non chronological order it makes the story still as entertaining and unexacting as if its a a new plot. It also shows off JGL's acting talents. It has a great story, wonderful score, playful structure and the girl from elf. The last line of the film is a joke, whats not to like! My worries of it being a bad rematch were wrong. Still as good as ever.

I watched this movie when it first came out and didn't think much about it, but my friend kept insisting how good it was so I gave it another chance and it completely changed my opinion of it.
For the type of movie it is, it was incredibly well done. Its a Romantic comedy that more so explores the reasons behind falling in love and the pains that come with falling in love.I enjoyed the real life approach of…

I hated how by being so annoyed at this film I ended up liking it. That sentence doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, but neither does the film.
Both Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel are so incredibly annoying. You just want to shake them, tell them to stop being such children, grow up, and sort themselves out.
"oooh I don't believe in love it's a fairytale I'm like soooo much more mature than to believe in stuff…

Probably the best romantic comedy I've seen in recent years. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel nail their parts and have a great chemistry throughout. The film is quite funny at times, although there's always a sort of depressing undertone. Oh, and the soundtrack is amazing.

"She’d only loved two things. The first was her long dark hair. The second was how easily she could cut it off and feel nothing.”

Second time watching this. I though it was great the first time, and it was this second time too.
I'm normally not a fan of romantic comedies, but I really like this one. Marc Webb makes it all feel very real, and it has some golden moments. I really liked the performance from Gordon-Lewitt and Zooey Deschanel (even though she was a bitch). You can understand why Gordon-Lewitt, playing as Tom, loves her even though she always stomps on him.
Fun film to watch with both sad and happy moments.
Oh, and by the way, Minka Kelly looks soo good, haha.
Summer < Autumn. -
Rarely is a recent romantic comedy that makes tons of money at the box office this inventive. Most romantic comedies originating from the United States at this day and age follows a very staple romantic formula: a person (either sex) becomes infatuated with another person, faces challenges in getting the two of them to become a couple, they have a large amount of sex, and then they end up a couple with the future relatively certain. This movie, however, puts…

Lieve comedy zonder grote clichés.

A depressing movie about the finiteness of relationships, and the tolls that they take on our everyday lives. Ending gives hope to any post-breakup hopefuls watching this movie, pretty good movie overall. Would recommend.

Damn, I love this movie.
As the tagline says "This is not a love story. This is a story about love" and it recounts the 500 day relationship between Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levett) and Summer (Zooey Deschanel) and if I were Tom I would totally be in love with Summer also.
I love the opening credits with Regina Spektors "Us" and the 'growing-up" montage.
I love that Summer calls her dog Bruce after The Boss
I love the countless references to…
