Una década bajo la influencia, Une décennie sous influence, 影响电影界的七十年代
The biggest revelation in this is Martin Scorsese saying he’s a fan of Sam Raimi’s Spider Man
The 70's were the greatest era of independent filmmaking and arguably the greatest decade in American film history. These were three blissful hours of clips, analysis and interviews with many of the heroes that back in the day took the establishment by storm with only their cameras and dreams. It just breaks my heart that the business - as it always does - crushed the movement and has lead us where we are today were Streaming 'content' and Superhero nonsense rule the industry with CGI, explosions and green screen backgrounds. But hey, this glorious Decade Under the Influence left us with plenty of homework to do!
I think it's wonderful that someone can make an ingenious entertaining film that can…
The filmmakers that influenced me the most, I don't know their names, 'cause I would go see a film and hate it and I'd say, "I gotta remember to never do anything like that again."
- Robert Altman
This documentary is much better than Easy Riders, Raging Bulls: How the Sex, Drugs and Rock ’n’ Roll Generation Saved Hollywood. The figures involved give much more info into other films and directors that influenced them. It's not about following around George Lucas and Francis Coppola for most of the runtime. It doesn't follow them around at all, thankfully. It's just a bunch of directors, actors, screenwriters, talking about what influenced them. Extremely insightful.
Bruce Dern gives the perfect Jack Nicholson impression.…
Entertaining! Bit overstuffed and omits quite a bit of the essentials in terms of Hollywood filmmaking in the 70s but certainly an easy watch!!!
when they said robert de niro and al pacino weren’t heartthrobs um what?? to who??
An entertaining look at THE great decade in American cinema featuring talking heads clips from some of THE figures of the time. Covers a lot of the same ground as Easy Riders Raging Bulls but in a less confrontational manner. Features many great clips from many great films to illustrate its points and ties the evolution of cinema in to the changing face of America at the time, a reminder that everything was cinema and cinema was everything for a short time. The bittersweet ending is tempered by an optimistic prologue on contemporary indie filmmaking, complete with wise words from those that were there.
Was I aware of everything I was being told in this talking heads doc? Mostly. Did I enjoy myself anyway? Absolutely.
Rest In Peace Ted Demme (1963-2002)
Really enjoyed this, fun combination of actual insight with regard to the context of a lot of popular films from the 70s, being able to spot films that I have seen, and seeing films that look interesting and that I would like to eventually see.
well, i actually can't believe how many genres and film movements were created in just one decade, influenced by the european cinema, social context and young directors with incredible ideas.
