Touch wood I never have cancer but if I do I hope it is Hollywood Cancer. You know the kind, where solemn orchestral strings constantly play in the background, friends and family provide morale boosting soundbites of triteness and you still look utterly fabulous throughout the whole ordeal.
In truth I knew I was going to hate this film when Kate Hudson received top billing. No actor in the history of cinema has appeared in such a promising debut only to squander it all by starring in mind numbingly awful chick-flicks. Here our dear Kate plays a carefree career woman with no interest in settling down. When she meets a doctor (Gael Garcia Bernal no doubt forced to make the…

Here is the lesson from A Little Bit of Heaven: Colon cancer is the best thing that can happen to anyone.
Before cancer, Marley is a shallow, vain person who sleeps with anyone, doesn't get along with her parents, doesn't believe in love. With colon cancer, Marley now has a good looking Mexican Jewish (yes, they actually exist) doctor (yes, he is her doctor, who looks like Gael Garcia Bernal, and no, I don't think it's ethical) falling for her and she loves him. She makes peace with her parents (played by Kathy Bates and Treat Williams, who should be playing Newt Gringrich in a TV movie). She has new friends including a dwarf male gigolo played by Peter Dinklage…

Cliche after cliche after cliche. The movie dies much faster than she does.

This was appalling. Terrible film in every level. I only watched it for Peter Dinklage and he gave the only convincing performance - and he was a stripper (I think).

This movie sucks and is unnecessarily sad. Skip it.

I was checking Kate Hudson-movies to see if there's anything I missed out on. The trailer did two things to me: got me interested and made me instantly fall in love with Gael G. B. It took me a couple of months to be able to watch it, I was just never in the mood for crying. Because that's what all this movie is about. You know iit from the beginning though :) I started crying in the 20th minute and never stopped until the credits stopped. It also has a very special connection to my life so I may have been extra sensitive about the topic but still. Sad and beautiful. I love Kate, she's great again and well, Gael... you just have to see it for yourselves :) I would have given this 4 stars if only I didn't cry my eyes out :)

I initially thought I'd be disappointed with this film, classic chick flick, nothing amazing, but about half way through, the tears started pouring out, and I'm not one to cry in films. This was just beautiful and yes I okay have been sucked in a little to the love story, but I was so moved by what was happening I couldn't help the emotions. Thoroughly recommend if you're looking for something moving, and will leave you with a smile, even If you were crying for the most part.

Un pedacito de cielo enfatiza a tal punto los defectos de Gael García como actor que es como un paraíso para sus fieles detractores. Incompetencia pura en un indefinido drama/comedia con actores desprotegidos y un tema serio tocado irresponsablemente.
