Synopsis
In this one-hour Christmas special, Fozzie Bear surprises his mother Emily on Christmas Eve by bringing the entire Muppet gang to her farm to celebrate the holidays. Doc and his dog Sprocket, who had planned a quiet Christmas, end up joining the Muppets in their holiday activities and preparations.The Sesame Street regulars, including Big Bird, Bert, Ernie and others, join the festivities, but to Kermit's dismay, the only one missing is Miss Piggy, who has been caught in a snowstorm.

I absolutely love the Muppets. Their relentless joyfulness and silliness simply makes my smile in a way no other comedy does. I've seen most of their films, but never had a chance to see this TV special before (thanks to its awkward legal problems preventing a proper release).
It's lovely and heartwarming to see the whole cast of four separate Muppet shows - The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock and Muppet Babies - on screen together, and the special does retain the Muppets inimitable charm. But there is far too much singing, and not enough comedy or caper. It gets a little tiresome by the end (the last fifteen minutes is solely musical), especially without any real humour to…

I used to get so excited when this used to come on for christmas. Having not watched it in years I was interested in rewatching it, unfortunately it doesn't hold up nearly as well in reality as it did in my mind.
