OH MY GOD, LOOK AT HOW CONTROVERSIAL I AM!!!!!!
.......self indulgent garbage......

Incomprehensible, boring, vile, and completely forgettable. What a big heap of yuck.
I love "down the rabbit hole" movies. Films where a character from a relatively comfortable life goes down a path that no one should ever go down, becoming increasingly more disturbing and bleak as the movie progresses. A SERBIAN FILM is definitely one of those movies. It's just not a good one. The problem lies in its wholehearted desire to shock and repel instead of truly unnerve. Come on, we live in the age of the internet, where even the most casual web traveler will have witnessed at least six real-life deaths on screen. It's becoming harder and harder to disturb viewers with gore because there's just so…

Disappointing.
The buzz on the internet said A Serbian Film was one of the most polemic film ever made. Extremely disturbing, they said. I was expecting, on the very least, tons of extreme and graphic violence. But, well, let’s get to the review.
The main idea of A Serbian Film is great. Milos is a former porn star that decides to make a new movie because of the immense amount of money it’d pay. Problem is, from the start, he realizes these guys want to film a snuff movie and not porn. What is a snuff movie, you may ask? It’s a film made to chock people in a realistic way. Meaning, everything that happens on film happens in real…

I was expecting it to be worse than it actually is, somewhat underwhelming.

This is not a review. It's more of a rambling, one sided conversation as I try to figure this film out. The closest I can come to reviewing it is to say it's terrible in every way. It commits various sins, the most obvious of which is that it's boring. Like, really boring.
I'll admit that the reason I watched this film was to be shocked. I wanted to see things I've never seen before on screen. I wanted to see if I could take stand to keep my eyes on the TV during the apparently depraved acts being shown. What I didn't expect, was to be utterly unmoved in any way, shape or form. I'm not sure what reaction… -
WHAT THE F*CK

Only the full uncut I dig.

A Serbian Film is Boogie Nights meets Martyrs if both those film were trash. Seemingly pointless, the film absolutely slogs through its 104 minute runtime which says volumes considering the amount of fast paced "fucked up shit" for lack of a better phrase that happens in this film. It's boring, a fact not helped by the inconsistency of its visual language. I could have sworn there were like 8 photographers on this movie from the way shot composition flows from incredible to on-par with Birdemic. Uggggggh. There's not much to read into here either, as far as I'm concerned, but the filmmakers insist there is a point. According to them, A Serbian Film serves to parody the "politically correct" and…

Brutal. Inhumane. Twisted. Heartbreaking. Violent.
Brilliant.Based on many reviews and opinions I have read all over the internet, most people disliked this piece of art. Now, I can understand that they have their own reasons to hate it, but my own theory is that these people are either weak in the stomach, lack the brains to understand the allegory and the message of this film, or they're just stupid Americans who only like their own pointless movies.
Now, let's take a random American film for example. I'm choosing the just-released "Fast & Furious 6". Let's all think together: What is the actual purpose of the film? Why was it made? What is the message in it, if there is one?…

Film 5/100 of the June Challenge
Damn, never again. This movie is hardcore sexual, violent, and vile. A Serbian Film is a movie that never should have been made but it was. And it is a great film, sure, due to its artistic value, great acting, and powerful aesthetics (cinematography/music/editing), but this is a film I wish to forget as fast as I can. By the end, I was exhausted and worn out with all the depravity. But it worked. I saw the directors cut and I was surprised about the amount of people that dislike this film. It is a very good film with tight pacing, well written characters, and something you leave analyzing. There is much more to…

Film Number 2 in Blair's June 2013 World Tour
Country: Serbia
Yeah, I decided to go from Hong Kong to Serbia (a film industry I know barely anything about) but I certainly know about this, one of the most infamous movies to come out in recent years, one where film festival people have gotten arrested just because they announced they were going to exhibit the film. I've always been wary of watching it but last night I finally gave in and found a copy (and it was the uncut version, too) and gave it a spin.
As a movie, it certainly was competently made. It's shot, put together, filmed, scored, and acted in at least a fine manner. You can…
