Classic noir in exotic setting.
No, he *does not* say, "Come wiz me to ze Casbah!"
This is fine. I came by it on a bargain basement 6 film set entitled, Femme Fatales. There is much enthusiasm for this film on other sites and keen to see an early Hedy Lamarr, went for this one first. Fine, as I say, but Lamarr doesn't do an awful lot in this, though she certainly shines. She is not a femmes fatale here though. She matches Charles Boyer well and the slender re-make of Pepe le Moko is well enough told with plenty of local colour. And if the casbah is not entirely convincing it is a brave enough stab and there is a wonderful montage including shots of Paris as our villainous hero speeds to his end.
