Reviews of All Dogs Go to Heaven 1989

Sloppy, disjointed storytelling on display here, but who's surprised? This is a film with TEN credited writers, and it feels like it. Pretty mediocre, to put it mildly.

Rewatched it. It was adorable. I cried.

I remembered enjoying this movie when I was a kid but after rewatching it on TV somewhat recently all I could think of was, "This is a kids movie!?"
Seriously think about it the main plot of this movie is that Charlie, the main character and awesomely awesome German Sheppard gets killed. How the hell is a dog getting killed and being the main action that drives the plot forward in any way kid friendly. Add to that the fact…

I don't remember this film being quite as crazy when i was little. From what I gather, they are in possible 1930s New Orleans except at one point Carface has a ray gun?!
You have to applaud a film that kills off its protagonist in a grusome way within ten minutes. And then makes him actually not that good of a dog for most of the film!
Also, there is a bit where Charlie gets dragged down to hell which is pretty scary.
Ann-Marie is so cutesy it makes my teeth hurt, but despite all of this I still love this film!

Don Bluth animation.

I can't believe Gary Oldman was in this... I will never forgive him.
