Based on a true story this is typical american teenagers that think they can rule the world.
How they ever thought they could get away with this was beyond me.
If your put off because you see Justin Timberlake's name attached to this film, don't be as this is worth a view. -
If you ever doubted Emile Hirsch, Justin Timberlake, Anton Yelchin or Ben Foster, watch this.
It doesn't hurt that it's a pretty good film as well.

This is one of those movies that will come on as you're about to leave the house and you'll sit and watch it until the end only to realize that you're two hours late to wherever you were going.

I remember watching this film a while back and liking it, but the more I thought about it, the less likely it seemed that it could actually be a good film. The director of The Notebook makes a gritty crime film starring one fifth of 'N Sync; how could that possibly be a good movie? So I decided to rewatch it and I must admit that I still find it enjoyable. It is not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination but it is well directed and (mostly) well acted. There were a few moments that left me shaking my head a little, but overall I think it's a solid film.

If you can get past the sheer volume of the use of the f word in this movie then what you have is a pretty decent story of youth mis-spent and the effects of peer pressure.
Emile Hirsch gives a decent performance as the rather stupidly named Jonny Truelove, a Californian drug dealer who becomes embroiled in a gang war with Ben Foster, in an another excellent turn, and in a bout of desperation crossed with blind stupidity kidnaps Foster's younger brother, Zack who finds the whole thing quite cool.
Justin Timberlake adds some meat to the cast as Truelove's right hand man and there is a great performance from Shaun Hatosy as the guy desperate to be included in… -
Average movie with great cast.

The cast was surprisingly good with great performances by Emile Hirsch and Justin Timberlake. It's unfortunate that the rest of the film just wasn't there with them.

Average movie with great cast.

Founded upon top performances, particularly from Hirsch and Timberlake, Alpha Dog is a grizzled and bleakly funny portrait of youth crime and suburban drug culture.
Why Cassavetes went on to make My Sister's Keeper still remains one of filmmaking's most perplexing mysteries...

Eh. The terrible sobbing scene with Sharon Stone was a major flaw, otherwise solid.

It has some good things going for it, but its ambition reaches further than what it is capable of.
