The blisteringly brilliant pop-punk soundtrack is back, the usually great cast have returned, and the seemingly unobtainable goal of sex is once again playing on everyone's mind. American Pie (1999) was a refreshingly enjoyable comedy with likeable characters and plenty of laughs, but how does the next slice of pie taste?
After the events of prom and the losing of virginities, American Pie 2 tackles the first summer home after a year of college. It's that summer where home is exactly the same, but now being looked upon by those who have tasted independence and old bedrooms can't help but seem suddenly small. In order to make the summer memorable, the guys decide to rent out a beach house in…

I received a text message last Thursday afternoon from a good friend of mine who is attending North Carolina School of the Arts, of which it read nothing but "It's a sad day". I was hoping this message wasn't regarding what I thought it might be, but it certainly was. Roger Ebert had passed away after his long fight with treacherous thyroid cancer, and just like that the most reliable source in the history of film criticism was gone. Of course I never knew Ebert, and you might think it out of the ordinary to take the hearing of this loss by someone as meaningless as myself so personally devastating, but that's what happened. The fact that just one man…

I'm quite sure that this series—the original four—will end up being the defining "coming of age" films of my generation. One of the things that helps them maintain memorability is an awesome soundtrack (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5). I can never exactly watch them all the way through, they are far too excruciating. The constant humiliations visited on lead protagonist, Jim (Jason Biggs), are too much to bear—the eponymous pie scene in the first movie, very much included. The second film however is much less cheesy, much less staid, and much less embarrassing than the first. The story as such is not the main thing: it is a comedy with a very specific purpose, to ridicule the oversized sense…

There was a guy in a suit at the bar asking me why I had called him a "Pointless Fucker". He was aggressive and I was trying to work out what he was on about. I went to say "I’m sorry mate you must have me confused with someone else" but what came out was "Gahhh yaaaah pointless fusher twat".
The guy stood up and swung at me. His fist was caught by my girlfriend and she twisted it, making him fall from his stool. He dusted himself off and went to swing again, but a female friend and my girlfriend both blocked his way while I tried to work out what was happening.
I pieced things together from my…

Having not seen any other American Pies... and not really liking the 'teen-com' genre... and not really liking even the IDEA of this film...
It was alright. For some reason, the image of getting arrested due to supergluing your hand to your penis was hilarious to me.
Either this film kills brain cells, or it's not that bad.

My Favourite slice of Pie. Best soundtrack and the best scenes of the whole film series. Open a bottle of champagne and taste the bubbles and enjoy!

"I'm taking one for the team!"
Just as funny as the first one, unfortunately, they go on to make fifteen more films and it runs out of lubricant and becomes a dry place.
Greta soundtrack too!

Almost as good as the first film, this is one of the greatest comedy sequels of all-time. The entire cast up their game here and, although the plotting and script aren't quite as strong, several brilliant scenes and the amazing cast bring it more than up to standard.

A comedy with half comedy full. This sequel to the very funny American Pie, takes the guys to a beach house. With more mishaps and sex-related jokes this movie not as good as the first. You really can;\'t judge the acting in these movies because it's kind of weird to think about their acting because you are so involved with what will happen to the characters.
"Jim. Can't you keep your shirt on?" - Stifler

It's not as good as the original, and it's basically just a retread, but I still found it to be funny.
