Being a fan of the first three outings and the most recent theatrical film in the series(American Reunion) I decided to watch the first in a series of straight-to-video American Pie films. Oh boy, do I regret it. The movie focuses on Steve Stifler's brother Matt. It seemed like a logical choice considering the character was already established in American Pie 2 so seeing him at an older age would give us something at least slightly familiar from the original run. However that's the problem the movie depends too much on the original formula. Bringing back Jim's Dad as Camp Safety Officer and Chuck Sherman as School Guidance Counselor was a nice idea, they are both memorable characters after all…

Horribly generic movie. Only good for maybe two laughs the whole movie.

Possibly the worst movie ever made – what the hell was I thinking – should have known when it went straight to DVD. This is the absolute worst movie I have seen in ages – terrible with no redeeming qualities.

I went to band camp...it was nothing like this, but this is still hilarious.

The first of many direct to DVD sequels is pretty good. The cast is likable enough, and Arielle Kebbel is adorable. Jim's Dad and Sherman actually return for small roles too. Some really funny scenes too.

The older the american pie movies get, the older the sex jokes get. After all these years it isnt funny anymore. They should bring new ideas. Only watch the movie if you're a big fan of American Pie and hope that you like it.
