Freeman directs this continuation of the story that began with Bret Easton Ellis's controversial novel.

This is what happens when filmmakers miss the point. American Psycho was not a horror film, or a thriller, it was social commentary with chainsaws thrown in for good measure. American Psycho 2 completely ignores what the original film (based on the book) achieved and instead becomes a run-of-the-mill slasher with a depressing appearance by William Shatner. Avoid.

No. Just no.

This film is basically just a big fat "Fuck You" to the drama and the depth of the first film. Patrick Bateman's killing spree was all suggested and a lot of it was used as metaphors. It wasn't a horror film. It was barely even a thriller. It was a complex drama (on some cases, more of a black comedy) that goes deep into the psyche of a disturbed man. This chugs all that out the window. It ruins Bateman's metaphorical killing spree and makes him look like a mindless yuppie who dies at the hand of a little girl with an ice pick (not a spoiler, happens in the opening). Never mind that this is poorly acted, poorly directed and is written even worse, I hate this because it pisses on the legacy of American Psycho by replacing subtlety with some tone deaf and soulless excuse for a film.

Oh my god. That is the reason why some outstanding films should stand for their own. One really has to ask if the writers and all other people behind this project have read the book American Psycho or at least have seen the movie based on it. Otherwise it is inexplicable how this story could be the result of actual writing.
The one reason I watched it was Mila Kunis - but mark my words. Even if you adore her, it is not worth the time (although she is not the worst part of the movie)

Mila Kunis is not sexier than Christian Bale.

Not worth it, not even for William Shatner.

Mila Kunis is gorgeous... that's about it really.

Disregard this. Never watch it if you have seen the first, or at all.

American Psycho 2 huh? Really? Talk about your unnecessary sequels and quick cash cows. There was absolutely no need for an American Psycho 2 and there was no way in hell they could recapture the greatness that was the first and should be ONLY American Psycho. Maybe if they gave the movie a different title altogether it would of been received better but even then I doubt it as I can think of nothing good about this movie.
I give warning on this review, I haven't seen it since it originally came out direct to video (which itself tells you of how bad it is.) and when I saw it then I could just BARELY do it so I have…

This movie acts like the events in the first movie all really happened, which destroys your ability to watch the first one and wonder if it's all just in Patrick Bateman's head. So not only is it a pretty bad movie on its own, it actually ruins the really excellent first film. In that regard, it may be one of the worst sequels ever.
