"Razor" is a solid extended universe film that fills in the backstory of the first three seasons of "Battlestar Galatica". This film should ONLY be watched by people who've watched past season three of the show as it spoils a good portion of the show. It's not quite as good as I remembered but it's still a solid side story.
*Edit: I forgot to add that the film is on the first disc on the season 4 boxset.
Highly enjoyable!
Battlestar Galactica is a show that has entered into my life at a perfect time, and that's all I say about that.
Razor is a tv movie where you wished it was at most a one-season show.
Like if Breaking Bad put a movie about Tuco Salamanca between seasons 3 and 4.
It’s ok , the biggest problem with this is it’s timing , it should’ve come between season 2&3 not 3&4 ... it feels like filler a little and I could be wrong but I think it only came out to fill the gigantic waiting time between season 3&4 because of the writers strike ..
Still totally loving my rewatch of the entire series , the end of season 3 is frakking amazing ... series is 10/10 this little movie is kinda unnecessary though
Fans of Battlestar Galactica get a fantastic thrill-ride with this film released between seasons 3 and 4 of the re-imagined series. The introduction of the Battleship Pegasus and the events the take place in that part of the series is widely considered one of the most entertaining parts of the entire series. This film gives us a first hand view at the rumors behind the Pegasus and the cold decisions that led to them meeting with the Galactica. This film also re-introduces the old-style cylons from the original series, which helps tie the two together into the same universe. A great watch for the series, but it probably wouldn't work to well as a standalone film.

I think I was fine with all of the in episode descriptions of Admiral Cain’s atrocities back in season 2. But nope, let’s have a film about them. Sheer misery with some cool space battles and a little bit of “ooh! Classic cylons!” Thrown in.
This is my first ever run through BSG and I am loving it. Three seasons in and now it is time for this TV movie that fills in some of the blanks involving the Battlestar Pegasus that first showed up during season two of the show. Many of the events of this movie are spoken about as exposition in the two or three episodes after Pegasus turns up in season two but to see it all enacted in an interesting plot that tells stories looking back through two or three time frames cleverly transitioning between each to advance the story.
It has better production value than a standard episode. Great to see Michelle Forbes reprise her role as Admiral Cain… there’s my Star Trek connection.
Very enjoyable. As is the entire show!
Nothing revelatory in terms of technique or story, as the events of Razor are concerned with filling out an existing universe and bringing clarity to characters' whose fates were already fixed by the show proper. This is a challenge for any entry into a serial, leave alone a film-length one with a protagonist who isn't involved in the main narrative. But, on the terms it sets and within the limitations it has, Razor is a fine 90 minutes of BSG. It involves a series of No Good Choices, increasingly conflicted loyalties, breathtakingly authoritative performances, compellingly tense action, and a roving camera propelled through space by Bear McCreary's score - all the usual suspects.
Stephanie Jacobsen, as the officer through which…
As a huge fan of the Pegasus arc from BSG season 2 this was a nice surprise to find included with the series on BBC iPlayer. Balances a couple plotlines and just about gets away with it, getting to see previously-alluded-to backstory about Cain's actions (really interesting character but yeah she's evil) was nice and I'm glad we got to see a glimpse of the first cylon war, I'd be up for more of that if it's in any of the webisodes I've heard about.
Oh also I'm increasingly worried about what happens in season 4. I am not ready.
Watching BSG for the first time and I’ve arrived at this TV movie at the end of season three. At first my wife and I wondered why it was placed at the end of this season but it became apparent by the end with the discovery of the cylon “missing link” and how it relates to Kara.
The storyline surrounding the Pegasus has been my favorite of the series to date, so any further exploration of that appealed to me. The only thing more exciting was then appearance of the old school cylon centurions and cylon raiders. I knew it happened at some point but never knew when for sure. I only wish they had gotten more screen time. While I enjoy this reimagining, I far and away prefer the original so there’s going to always be a bias in that regard 😉
