A group of people converge on a barren Arctic island. They have their reasons for being there but when a series of mysterious accidents and murders take place, a whole lot of darker motives become apparent. Could the fortune in buried Nazi gold be the key to the mystery? Donald Sutherland and Vanessa Redgrave investigate
In theory this movie should be pretty good. It stars Donald Sutherland, Vanessa Redgrave, Christopher Lee and that evil corporation guy from Scanners. The arctic locations are beautiful and wonderfully shot, they also create a very nice, desolated atmosphere. The plot involving mysterious accidents in a research arctic station made it sound intriguing. And finally the poster looks cool.
However, in practice the mystery doesn't last long and it's poorly revealed with some expected twists. Due to directing issues and overacting you immediately guess who the baddies are. The pacing sometimes drags and leaves you wondering why nobody's taking action against the threat. BUT there are some pretty crafty stunts and action sequences (even if they are a little too long).
If you enjoy 70's action/thrillers with more of the first than the second, you'll probably want to check this one out. And apparently flare guns are deadlier than I thought.
