“Meet Adam…”
A disgusting, toffee coloured sex pest washes up on a beach with amnesia - on paper, this is the role Roger Moore was born to play. Unfortunately, “Adam” is also supposed to be a sexy man of mystery who gets three generations of women hot and bothered and dripping wet after he moves into their BED and BREAKFAST!
This is a problem because Roger Moore, particularly circa 1991, is maybe the least attractive man ever to appear on a screen - a flaming gay camp affect, Aquanetted grandma hair, pants pulled up to his giant egg yolk nipples, giant nutbrown baboon feet. He can barely move. We all love Rog to a degree but he’s the biggest millstone…
What happens when you are three women, with problems, and a 64 year old Roger Moore washes up on your island, you fucking love it, that's what.
A gently comic drama, where Roger Moore, as a bullshit artist of the highest degree, sexes up three generations of women with a cocked eyebrow, and, well, his cock.
Bed & Breakfast is actually a bit of a laugh. Moore, plays Moore. Like a sex-pest Cary Grant. While the three women are Talia Shire, Colleen Dewhurst and Nina Siemaszko.
Everyone's favourite character actor Stephen Root also turns up.
This is as far from a classic as you can imagine, but if you like Moore, as I do, then this is worth a watch. Feminist it is not, Moore-ish it is.
