I think this movie is only really appealing if you, the viewer, are cute and quirky.

Old Johnny Depp is definitely better than new Johnny Depp. This movie is a bit oddly made though. Dealing with as serious a topic as mental disorders, a topic that, if I say so myself, has been rather mistreated in many movies. This one at the very least I got the impression that it tried to portray it in a respectful light.
The plot is paper thin and the dialogue is subdued. It seems like they tried putting the focus on the characters and the actors' performances. I have a lot of affection for ''Benny and Joon'' for some reason. Dunno why. It's definitely not great or anything, but I guess that's what happens when a movie is anchored by the whimsical art of Johnny Depp. It was really cool seeing him emulating the silent greats of Chaplin, Keaton and Lloyd. The movie is definitely worth a watch if you're a big fan of him like I am.

Cute romance film with a nice twist. Has a 90s indie feel to it. I doubt the portrayal of mental illness is accurate though.

Pirms miega derēja, jauki un tā. Bet visā visumā meh. Uz samērā jaunu Džoniju gan varēja vismaz paskatīties.
Es jau atkal gaidīju kaut ko citu no šīs filmas, neko tik happy go lucky, bet oh well.
Dotu 3, bet pusīte Džonijam, lai arī man ļoti tracināja viņa tēls. Mati. -

Seriously underrated. One of Johnny Depp's best performances, and ever since seeing it I've thought different of grilled cheese.

This was an easy and good movie. Full of charm, some humor and a couple of crazy people.
