More-
Although the late mid to late 80s were arguably the Big Yin's strongest years as a a stand-up, Billy And Albert is not one of his strongest shows by a long shot.
At his best, he is still a brilliantly funny comedian, but the free-wheeling and admirably largely script-free nature to his performances mean that he is more likely to have his off days than most. This is one of them, but Connolly had long before earned the right to miss the mark.
It drags mostly in the second half with rather too many sex and vomiting noises and the opening political shot is a bit of a lead balloon, but there are still plenty of laughs to be had here. It lags way behind his now near legendary An Audience With Billy Connolly performance, though.
