For a movie that has the hero's superpower as a flying car, it's a surprisingly paint-by-the-numbers superhero film. Tragic past? Check. Girlfriend issues? Check. Villain with a laughably absurd plan? Check.
Some rather convoluted plot points and boneheaded goons (even for a superhero film) bring it down. Go in expecting an absurdly silly ride, and you'll enjoy it well enough. -
What do you get when you combine Spider-Man's character arc with Batman's Hans Zimmer score and cinematographic feel - with just a dash of Flubber thrown in for good measure?
Aw, you guessed it. While Black Lightning feels really, really derivative of Western superhero genre films, it is a fun little movie in its own right. Definitely worth a watch, in my book.

Ööö. Láttátok már a Pókembert? Igen? Akkor láttátok már ezt is.
De most tényleg.

Very conventional and familiar comic book story except for the fact it's set in Russia. The final flying car fight that starts in Red Square is great in concept but was kind of a disappointment. Looks decent but fairly average overall.

So I was trying to decide what to watch for the night when I stumbled upon this relatively unknown, intriguing sounding title, Black Lightning, a Russian superhero film (that's only from 2009) set in Moscow starring a flying car powered by an experimental Soviet fuel - sold!
It had its flaws, a couple of odd character reactions aside my main gripe was with the overly shaky camera-work on display in some of the more hectic flying-car moments, which may have been a decision to hide the odd moment where the effects looked a little cheap (think humble-but-decent-enough Doctor Who graphics), but they were decent enough in the scenes where the director actually kept the camera still that I'd have much…

After Lovefilm finally resolve their dispute with Universal Studios, I get to see this film. And you know what - it's really enjoyable!
Kind of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang meets Spiderman in Russian with a respectful nod to Back to the Future (the Delorean at least).
The film plays it pretty straight, never resorting to slapstick (which would have been pretty easy in a film about a superhero flying car) but also has a good heart too, even if the responsibility theme is lifted more or less straight from Spidey. Well done Timur Bekememeobovovovmvvvovvkkk (bugger....I can never spell or pronounce his surname!) -
Moscow has it's own "Spider-man", but rather than mutant powers it's a flying car? YEP !! and it's a blast. Produced by Timur Bekmambetov (one of my favorite Directors) this is a Russian twist on the Super Hero genre. It's mostly the Spider-Man story we've all seen, but dropped in a new locale. Sure the science is wonky and it does get a little silly toward the end, but overall I think this is a great attempt on a super reduced budget to make something special for international audiences. There's a number of cast fron Bekmambetov's great NIGHT WATCH series as well and a fantastic young lead actor playing Dima. His love interest I swear is a very young Uma…

Did you enjoy the flying care from Harry Potter? You did well then I got a movie for you. "Black Lightning" is a Russian film about a flying car that runs off of a nanocytalst. Someone evil scientist wants it so he can drill for diamonds underneath Moscow which would in turn destroy Moscow.
The story is your typical superhero film. Kid discovers something uses it for good, bad guy then wants the power for bad. Except in this movie instead of being able to fly or shoot strands of web its a FLYING CAR! I don't know about you but I would take a flying car any day over superpowers.
As for the action in this movie, its pretty…
