Described as a "Female Batman", I can only assume the comparison is to the 60s tv show, rather than any other incarnation. With female wrestlers, clown faced muggers, an evil asthmatic armoured villain and a racial stereotype sidekick, Black Scorpion could have been good camp fun, had the performances been more tongue in cheek, but as it is Joan Severance and a poor man's Bill Pullman attempt to act as though they are in something serious, despite such nonsense as a car that changes into a Scorpionmobile, rather like Cringer changed into Battlecat ("The atoms change at a molecular level!"). I would have loved this with a more knowing cast, but it seems neither one thing or another. Also, I was dissapointed to see it wasn't a Blaxploitation martial arts flick, so, you know, let down from the off.

Fun. Does feel like an 80s TV show, except with more nudity. Campy and entertaining, yo! (You'll understand if you watch it...)

This is not a great film but it is fun and I think it plays with what it has quite well, it plays it straight but I like to think that the tongue was firmly in it's cheek. It plays campy and I think (I may be wrong) it knows what it is delivering and does it quite well. There are a few interesting nods to other films and it is almost a brilliant spoof.
