It's a miracle this film managed to get this high a score considering I couldn't understand what was being said a good 60% of the time.

"Are you craz', huh?"
Leo DiCap as badass southafrican. Needless to say, this is amazing.

If I were to take a look back at all the films I've given 3 and a half stars to, I'm sure there are films alot better than Blood Diamond. as well as films alot worse that got the same rating. But I feel like each film is reviewed and looked at on its own merits. Not to be judged in comparison with others.
With that being said, I personally gave Blood Diamond 3 and a half stars because I felt like it deserved the rating. Heck, if it wasn't so uneven and inconsistent, I would've given it FOUR stars. But it wasn't THAT good. There are however still a lot of things that are great about the movie. The…

Slowly but surely I'm becoming a DiCaprio fan. Once again he is excellent in this movie, taking a much more action oriented role than I've ever seen from him and delivering a great performance as a conflicted self serving man. The action is very good, the topic interesting and the script flows very well.

The film features two strong performances of immense emotion, but overall it's nothing more than a lecture with guns. Leonardo DiCaprio dives into a flashy role, but the MVP is Djimon Hounsou, who's heartfelt performance lingers in your heart and sould long after the end credits roll. Neverending scenes of uninspiring and out of place action sequences causes the film to never maintain a hold of a consistent connection or pace. Boring, banal, on the nose, unfocused, and overlong.
-
Another film that is said to have forced the message it was trying to relay. Again, I completely disagree with this critique. Edward Zwick made a damn good movie on a topic that just happened to be in discussion when it came out. The characters were superbly well acted, and because of that the film will leave you emotionally distraught. One of Leonardo DiCaprio's best roles.

A smarter popcorn film.

I like that one part where Leo dies in every movie.

Blood Diamond is a very well-crafted film, and unlike a lot of films with political overtones, it avoids being ham-fisted by also being a proper action drama. It isn’t a film that I’m likely to watch multiple times, but it was certainly worth watching. Read full review.
