O filme e a protagonista. E prova de que a intolerância e crueldade sao, sim, reais. Chamam atenção as belas e conceituais imagens da vida sem horizontes de uma pequena cidade americana

Honest, unflinching, and genuine in its portrayal of transgender identity. It takes serious talent to make such a sensitive film about such a tough subject. Hilary Swank is astonishingly good, and the screenplay grips to the end.

They do.
And this movie is a testament to why. 110 minutes of depression followed by something that doesn't end well.
Swank deserved the Oscar.

There are occasional performances that can be best described as landmark. This is Hilary Swank's fully deserved oscar winning one.
Based on a true story, her portrayal of Teena Brandon, a girl who passed herself off as a boy as a way of dealing with her sexuality is nothing short of jaw dropping. Swank has every male mannerism down to a tee and actually at times manages to persuade the viewer into forgetting that this is a girl. With that in mind, it's no wonder the other characters in the film never spot it.
After an initially slow first half hour, Boys Don't Cry does pick itself up as Swank's relationship with Chloe Sevigny's Lana develops. Admittedly the film at… -
Outstanding performance from Hillary Swank in this tale of the inhumanity of human beings towards their fellow human beings.

The title of this film is a lie. I cried so super hard. This movie is devastating. Hillary Swank, holy shit she's amazing!

A tragic yet amazing film. Must-see.

Disturbing and intense. This film show us that lies, ignorance, preconception and jealousy, when mixed together, can have disastrous outcomes.
Lastly, let me just state: Hillary Swank’s performance is outstanding. You go girl!!

An intense drama with brilliant acting of Hilary Swank.
[SPOILER ALERT]
It's a heavy topic that needs some courage to deal with it. The director doesn't spare us from the brutality of a small-town community, but also wants to convey an idealistic message: contrary to the events that the movie is based on, both Brandon and Lana hold on to their relationship.
In the end we look into the face of a smiling Lana (driving towards Memphis, encouraged by Brandon?). -
Fuerte, crudita. Basada en una historia real. Con algunas escenas incómodas que son difíciles de olvidar... Excelentes las actuaciones tanto de Hilary Swank como de Chloe Sevigny. Es triste saber que cosas así realmente ocurran.
