I'm like cat here, a no-name slob. We belong to nobody, and nobody belongs to us. We don't even belong to each other.
-Holly GolightlyBlake Edwards directs from George Axelrod's loosely adapted screenplay of Truman Capote's novella of the same name. They've basically taken a story about a gay writer's fascination and friendship with a young socialite and turned it into a romantic-comedy, which explains it's out of left field happy ending. It sounds disastrous giving such a description out of context like that, but the film simply works because of one Audrey Hepburn.
Hepburn's portrayal of Holly Golightly is stuff of legend. Posing with her beehive hairstyle, black evening gown and exaggerated cigarette holder is part of pop…

Clever, touching, and obscenely charismatic, Breakfast at Tiffany's is a cinematic delight. Like a well-oiled machine, every component of this film, from the well-composed cinematography to gorgeous Audrey Hepburn's catlike screen presence, works together in perfect harmony. Although I didn't find myself particularly in awe of any aspect of Breakfast at Tiffany's, it certainly did win me over with its immense charm.
Also, in regards to Mickey Rooney's performance as the Chinese landlord, I thought it was hilarious. Cry more.

Cómo no amarla.
Excelente soundtrack.

I feel like a bad gay for not loving this movie.

Finally, I've met the iconic Queen of erratic eccentricity, Holly Golightly. And what a bloody fun time I had.
Boasted by perfect performances from, perhaps the most beautiful woman to ever grace this planet, Audrey Hepburn, and the fantastic George Peppard, Breakfast At Tiffany's is an elegantly splendid and charming romantic tale. While the plot could of easily taken a shorter route, it chooses not to, allowing us to pleasantly indulge in delightful comedy, touching moments and an excellent script. At it's core, the film displays the message 'Money doesn't buy happiness', promoting the notion that love is what brings happiness to us all, which is something we cannot simply just buy with money. This is conveyed comprehensibly through Holly,…

If the beautiful, amazing Audrey Hepburn was still alive, she would be 84 years old. May 4th, today is her birthday, so out of love and respect for her I decided to watch this.
Happy Birthday Audrey.

What all these goofy haha Hollywood rom-coms should be striving for. Too bad there will never be another like Hepburn.

Audrey Hepburn is a marvel to watch, the chemistry between the two leads works well, the film is a sweet, cute and poignant portrayal of a "Real Phony" and an observer that falls for the charm of holly. I could call the character an airhead but, Audrey makes the character likable with her wit and exotic performance. One nitpicking the Japanese stereotype was a little dumb.

This is probably one of Miss Audrey Hepburn's overrated films. This piece was okay, but one should try her other films, as well... such as, Roman Holiday, Wait Until Dark, The Nun's Story, Two For The Road... you won't be disappointed.

Edwards over-directs, Mancini's score is overbearing and arguably, Hepburn's performance is just a bit too over-the-top. Yet, Breakfast at Tiffany's exists in a world of socialite Bohemia, and everything ought to be heighted in order to bring us into this exhausting world of heirs and self-loathing. As much as I enjoyed all of the overcooked elements (though let's all forget that Mickey Rooney was in this film... PLEASE), the ending fells neat and tidy in a way that doesn't quite match the film's overall manic aggression. Still, Breakfast at Tiffany's is an exceptionally good, imperfect movie.

I envy whoever can look past Mickey Rooney's character in this movie.

Film #14 of the 100 Movie June Challenge
Gonna have to change my initial rating after thinking about it, she started out adorable but near the end it was getting to the point of becoming annoying, still very pretty though!
