"Can I keep you?"
When you're a kid, that's the most adorable/cutest/sweetest thing you've ever heard.
When you grow up, that's the creepiest/scariest thing you've ever heard.
As a pickup line, it just might work.

Here's a film that brings back memories of my youth.
Casper was always a favourite of mine and even upon watching as a 24-year-old I can appreciate the magic and fun of it all.
Christina Ricci was always a great child actress and it's a shame we don't hear much of her these days.
Either way, Casper is still cool and that music is beautifully haunting

Hadn't seen this since its original release but ... I was expecting it to be better made. It's full of incredibly dark plot elements but everything's slathered with a thick layer of slapstick that just makes it all a bit rubbish. And there are wayyyy too many plot holes.
The set design is great though!

I love this film. The set is amazing, the script still makes me laugh now and the effects really aren't that bad for 1995.
The bit where the Vicar/Priest guy has his head on backwards still freaks me out now though.

6.0/10
Christina Ricci shines in this average family movie that has some really nice and funny moments but lacks the required spark to make it something truly special. In any case, in spite of being very entertaining, it never managed to be the great family film it could have been due to a somewhat weak writing.

"Everything about this children's film is awful; from dreadful story to poor depiction of ghosts through ropey acting."
-
Even though it has its fare share of cheesy moments, Casper remains worthwhile family entertainment with effects that hold up surprisingly well.

A film that holds a nostalgic place in my heart for the child growing up that had a crush on Christina Ricci. It sucks to watch it now and realize, yeah, it isn't all that great.

Very sweet film, great for kids.

One of my first non-Disney movie I ever watch since childhood and I like The Ghostly Trios scaring Bill Pullman with there vampire faces, morphing faces in the mirror and Fatso joking on Bill as he pretend be Dr. Harvey's wife that was great joke.

I realise it's for kids but that's no excuse for how badly it messes up what could've been a nice, simple movie. Every beat it tries to hit is way off. It never knows when to play its sentimental or slapstick cards so jumbles the two elements to the point of tastelessness. The mythology of the ghosts is equally confusing with the "rules" changing every few seconds. It's just one big, expensive mess.
